Nevada scored its first $1 billion month in over three years this January, thanks to the Chinese New Year celebration that saw an 18.4 percent increase in gaming revenue. A total of $1.038 billion was brought in, compared to $877.3 million in January of 2011.
The biggest gains were made on the Las Vegas strip, which saw their numbers climb from $482.7 million to $623.5 million, which was roughly a 29 percent jump.
The majority of that was made up by table games such as craps, roulette, baccarat and blackjack, which amounted to $365.2 million alone.
Clark County, which represents strip casinos, downtown casinos and other properties throughout the valley, brought in a total of $925.5 million, or more than 89 percent of the state’s total gaming revenue.
