Less than six weeks after securing his record-extending 24th World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring, Maurice Hawkins added yet another WSOPC title to his name. He overcame a field of 631 entries in the $1,100 no-limit hold’em event at the Harrah’s Cherokee stop on Friday, May 15th for an unprecedented 25th ring.
This was the fourth WSOPC victory of the year for Hawkins, having won two titles at Horseshoe Tunica early in the year and a third in an early event at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, Illinois.

In addition the hardware, Hawkins also took home $113,223 after defeating bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion James Calderaro heads-up for the title. Calderaro earned$75,460 as the runner-up.
Hawkins now has a five-ring lead over the nearest competitors, 20-time ring winners Ari Engel and Daniel Lowery.
While the positive news continues to roll in for Hawkins, he remains a controversial figure on the scene. His issues with backers have been public for years, and he was even involved in a physical confrontation in late 2025.
