Drake Swears Off Sports Betting After $1M Super Bowl Loss

Rapper Looks To Continue Other Forms Of Online Gambling

After recently losing a $1 million bet on the Super Bowl, Drake appears to be calling sports betting quits. The Canadian rapper has been known for some major wagers over the last few years, but said on Instagram last week that he was ditching sports wagering.

“I’m off sports betting … sticking to what I know,” he posted.

What he “knows” appears to be other forms of online gambling. The post included a video of the 39-year-old playing roulette on his phone with some friends.

‘Drake Curse’ Spurs The Move To Quit

The wager on the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl appears to have been a tipping point for the rapper. Some fans have pointed to the Super Bowl loss as the latest addition of the “Drake Curse.” They say any team Drake bets on will lose.

Earlier this year, he also lost a sizable wager on the Toronto Maple Leafs to beat the Florida Panthers in the second round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. The Panthers eventually won in seven games and went on to win the team’s second-straight Stanley Cup.

Last year, Drake’s bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl also came up short. The five-time Grammy winner detailed losing $8.2 million in a single month.

While Drake may not have a great sports betting record, he’s also had some nice wins. In 2024, a $1.15 million bet on the Chiefs was a winner. He also won $559,000 on the 2022 Super Bowl betting on the Los Angeles Rams.

Whether his promise to leave sports betting behind will stick remains to be seen.

In other Drake news, the Stake online gaming ambassador was recently named in a Virginia class-action lawsuit. The suit alleges a racketeering conspiracy that used proceeds to “artificially inflate streaming counts for Drake’s catalog.”
