The highest-stakes pot-limit Omaha games online have featured a lot of the same names battling it out in recent months. But just in time for the new year, some new names drove some of the biggest action on CoinPoker. Regulars ‘Allinyouwin’ and ‘KennedyP’ stepped it up to the highest stakes and battled as big as $300-$600 with a $120 ante.
Both players enjoyed profitable days on Dec. 31 despite playing each other in the biggest games for awhile. Allinyouwin won about $100,000, while KennedyP added about $50,000 to their bankroll. This week’s hand review will take a look at a pot where each player won a big pot off the other.
Unfortunate Turn Card Leads to Big Cooler
Playing $200-$400 ($80 ante) with $66,000 effective stacks, Allinyouwin raised to $1,200 and KennedyP called.
The flop came Q♦J♥4♥, and Allinyouwin continued for $1,774. KennedyP check-raised to $6,337, and Allinyouwin called. The turn was the 5♥, and KennedyP checked. Allinyouwin potted for $15,210, and KennedyP called. On the K♣ river, KennedyP check-called the last $44,065.
Allinyouwin showed A♥7♦6♦2♥ for the nuts. KennedyP showed K♥10♥7♥5♦ for a turned king-high flush. Allinyouwin scooped a pot worth $133,785.

Hand Analysis
Preflop is standard, and Allinyouwin makes a continuation-bet with the nut flush draw. A lot of unpaired nut flush draws with no other equity make good check-back candidates, but Allinyouwin’s hand has good backdoor potential with the diamonds and the cards interacting with the 4 on the flop. So, it makes for an okay c-bet.
In much the same way, most K-10 combos with hearts will check-call. That’s because this is a hand that just doesn’t want to face a three-bet. Unblocking pairs greatly increases the chance of facing one, and a medium-strength draw is in an ugly spot facing one.
However, again, having three hearts increases the utility of check-raising. It means the hand blocks more continues, and it completes the draw less often. So, turning it into a bluff, has more appeal.
Both players make their flushes again, but KennedyP decides to slow down and check. Holding the second nuts with a blocker to the nuts, this hand can definitely bet turn and barrel off. Most players will call with weaker flushes much more often than they’ll bluff a board like this.
As played, facing the pot-sized bet, there’s nothing for KennedyP to do but call.
On the river, KennedyP check-calls the rest off, which is appropriate in an aggressive heads-up PLO match. The opponent should bluff with many hands containing the A♥, and they’ll have the bare ace more in a heads-up match than in a ring game.
Bluff Catch Works for KennedyP
At $200-$400 ($80 ante) with roughly $81,000 effective stacks, Allinyouwin raised to $1,200. KennedyP made it $3,600, and Allinyouwin called.
On the K♥6♣5♠, KennedyP continued for a small size of $2,200. Allinyouwin called. When the 8♥ hit on the turn, KennedyP checked and called a pot-sized bet of $11,736. The river was the 10♣. KennedyP check-called pot again, this time for $35,208.
Allinyouwin showed A♦J♠6♦4♥ for a pair of 6s. KennedyP showed A♣K♣10♠8♠ for top two and won the $105,649 pot.

Hand Analysis
KennedyP has a normal three-bet preflop, and Allinyouwin has a clear call.
Top pair hands will often do a fair amount of checking, but Kennedy has two backdoor flush draws and a backdoor straight draw, so betting is best. A small size is good because it will ensure the opponent calls with worse.
Once KennedyP turns top two without straight blockers, check-calling makes sense.
Allinyouwin decides to bluff with a pair and a bad draw, plus a heart blocker. The hand doesn’t really have much value in the check-back line and doesn’t mind bet-folding at all, so it seems like a fine bluffing candidate.
Once KennedyP reaches the river and nothing really changes, they have a choice on whether to bluff-catch or not.
On the one hand, not having straight blockers means they’ll run into more straights. That’s not ideal.
However, on the other hand, blocking three board pairs usually means the hand makes for a good bluff-catcher. That might seem strange to some, but it’s important to keep in mind that the opponent usually shouldn’t bluff with two pair. So, when a player has three board pairs blocked, that means their own hand unblocks a lot of the bluffs in the opponent’s range. Not having any hearts is nice in that respect as well.
KennedyP finds the call and is rewarded with a six-figure pot.
