Boris Kolev Secures Florida Double With $25K Rock ‘N’ Roll Title

Bulgarian Pro Wins Two High Rollers In Three Days During WPT Rock 'N' Roll Poker Open Festival

Every time a major tournament series plays out at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, the high rollers show up to do battle. As the World Poker Tour Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open championship event reached its final table, Boris Kolev stole the spotlight for an evening as the king of the high rollers.

The Bulgarian pro and two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner won back-to-back tournaments, taking down the two biggest buy-in events of the festival for a total haul of $692,000. Just days after securing victory in a $10,000 high roller, Kolev triumphed in the signature RRPO $25,500 high roller for $465,900 and his second guitar pick trophy of the week.

Kolev outlasted a field of 51 entrants in the latter tournament, defeating Max Neugebauer heads up for the title. Brandon Wilson, who won two $25,500 and two $50,000 high roller titles at this venue during 2023 and 2024, entered the final table with a significant chip lead. Wilson subsequently settled for third place.

There was a discussion of a heads-up deal between Kolev and Neugebauer, the 2023 WSOP Europe main event winner. Ultimately, the pair decided to play on and Kolev won outright.

A stacked final table included recent PGT Poker Masters series champion David Coleman (4th) and WSOP bracelet winner Justin Liberto (5th). Brock Wilson (6th) and recent NAPT Las Vegas main event runner-up Thomas Boivin (7th) also made deep runs.

Boris’ Back-To-Back

Earlier in the week, Kolev secured the first of two victories in South Florida. He defeated WSOP bracelet winner Alex Keating heads-up to win the $10,000 buy-in event. On the way to his first trophy of the week, Kolev outlasted a field of 68 entrants.

Brock Wilson, who also made the $25,500 final table, finished fifth, while WSOP bracelet winner Cherish Andrews was fourth.

WPT champions club members Dylan Smith (8th) and Asher Conniff (9th) rounded out the final table.

During his three-day heater, Kolev collected a significant chunk of Card Player Player of the Year points. His $25,500 win netted him 420 Card Player POY points, adding to the 360 he earned in his $10,000 win. Kolev’s biggest result of the year, a $1,000,000 win in April in the Merit Millions Poker Classic, was worth 900 points. Kolev now sits inside the top 200 in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, Brandon Wilson’s third-place finish in the $25,500 high roller secured his spot on the POY leaderboard’s top 10. With significant Triton, PGT, and WSOP results, Wilson has climbed to eighth in the 2025 POY rankings presented by CoinPoker.
