Like Father, Like Son: Yosef Fox Wins WSOP Mystery Bounty Bracelet

Yosef Fox watched on as his son Jorden took down the 2019 World Series of Poker $1,000 double stack event. Six years later, Jorden returned the favor. He rooted from the rail as his dad surged to victory in the 2025 WSOP $10,000 mystery bounty no-limit hold’em event. The elder Fox earned $729,333 from the main prize pool as the champion. As if that wasn’t enough, Fox also drew the largest mystery bounty awarded in the event to add $250,000 to his haul.

All told, Fox walked away with $1,064,333. His bounty payouts totaled $335,000.

This was by far the largest live tournament result yet for the 58-year-old from Monticello, Wisconsin, blowing away his $46,890 payday earned for a 100th-place showing in the 2015 WSOP main event.

In addition to all the prize money and the hardware, Fox also secured 2,100 Card Player Player of the Year points and 729 PokerGO Tour points. This was his first live score of 2025, but this win alone was enough to catapult him inside the top 30 in the POY standings and all the way to 13th in the PGT points race.

Setting The Stage For The Climactic Conclusion

This event ran from June 1-3 at the Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas. $3,000 from each $10,000 buy-in was set aside for the mystery bounty prize pool, which swelled to $1,848,000 thanks to the strong turnout of 616 entries. There were 130 total bounties awarded, matching the total number of players who moved on to day 2 when the bounties began. The possible payouts ranged from $5,000 up to the $250,000 won by Fox. Three players walked away with $100,000 during day 2: ‘Texas Mike’ Moncek, Frank Brannan, Myles Mullaly. All three of those players also made it down to the final few tables.

The top 93 finishers earned a piece of the main prize pool worth nearly $3.9 million, with big names like Shannon Shorr (32nd), Brannan (26th), Mike Gorodinsky (22nd), Aram Zobian (18th), Dario Sammartino (16th), Christian Roberts (14th), Taylor Paur (12th), Moncek (11th), Mullaly (8th), and 2009 WSOP main event champion Joe Cada (7th) all running deep.

Fox Catches Fire Down The Stretch

The final day began with just five players remaining and James Mendoza of the Philippines in the lead. Patrick Kennedy was the first to be eliminated. He got all-in with K♠K♦ leading the J♥J♦ of Fox preflop, but the first three cards came down Q♠J♠10♠ to give Fox middle set. Kennedy had plenty of outs with his overpair and open-ended straight flush draw, though. The 8♦ turn and Q♥ river saw Fox improve to jacks full of queens to win the pot, ending Kennedy’s run in fifth place ($170,036). Fox’s $250,000 bounty draw came shortly after his jacks cracked Kennedy’s kings.

Richard Green finished fourth when his A-9 was unable to overcome the 7-5 shoved by Mendoza from the small blind. Green called all-in for just shy of ten big blinds from the big blind and was ahead, but Mendoza flopped trip sevens and held from there to send Green packing with $237,123.

Mendoza doubled up short stack Alejandro Peinado to slide to the bottom of the chip counts. He then got involved in a second big clash with the Spaniard, with all the chips going in preflop to set up a classic race. Peinado had 7♠7♣ while Mendoza revealed K♣J♦ for two overcards. The board came down 9♠9♣8♣10♠4♠ and the pocket pair held to see Mendoza eliminated in third place ($336,594). This deep run came just a few weeks removed from a runner-up showing in a $15,000 buy-in event at The Lord Poker Tournament Jeju festival for a career-best score of $450,000.

Heads-up play began with the final two fairly close in chips. Fox hopped out to an early lead, though, and never looked back. In the final hand, Fox raised on the button with J♠J♣ and Peinado three-bet shoved from the big blind for around 20 big blinds with A♦ 2♦ . Fox made the call and held through a 9♠3♥2♠10♠Q♠ runout to bring the event to a close. Peinado earned $486,192 from the main prize pool for his runner-up finish.
