WSOP Europe Moves To Czech Republic For 2017 and 2019

World Series of Poker Announces Multi-Year Deal With King's Casino Rozvadov

The World Series of Poker has announced a new multi-year deal with King’s Casino Rozvadov that will see the WSOP Europe festival hosted in the Czech Republic in 2017 and 2019. This deal was announced as the WSOP Circuit prepares to kick off it’s second ever festival at the venue.

The King’s Casino Rozvadov is located near the German border in the Western Czech Republic and is home to one of the largest poker room’s in Europe with over 150 tables. The venue is currently in the midst of an expansion, due to be completed by the start of the WSOP Europe in 2017, that would add even more poker tables as well as a new hotel tower.

“We are honored to be holding such prestigious WSOP bracelet events," said King’s Casino’s Leon Tsoukernik. “By the time of the WSOPE next year people will discover an all-new version of the King’s Casino. Not only are we adding 1,800 square meters of Las Vegas-style casino space with 40 more poker tables, we are opening an amazing new hotel with 218 additional rooms. The first three floors of the new building will be a four-star hotel while the fourth floor will be a five-star one with 18 luxury suites to accommodate even the most demanding of guests. The last floor of the new complex will be home to a fully-equipped wellness center with Jacuzzis, saunas, massage rooms and a fitness center.”

The deal between King’s Casino Rozvadov and the WSOP has many interesting stipulations, including that the WSOP Europe festivals in 2017 and 2019 will each have a minimum 10 gold bracelet events and €5,000,000 in prize pool guarantees), that
two WSOP Circuit events will be held each year in Rozvadov in 2018 and 2020, and that
one WSOP Circuit event will be held each year as well in the Spring in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

“I have really bought into Leon’s vision for creating a poker-first destination in Central Europe,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “The existing set up already reminds me of the Amazon Room at the Rio and it’s only going to get bigger. When the new hotel and the renovations are complete, and considering the way Leon and staff cater to poker players, this is going to be a very comfortable environment for a large festival such as ours. With King’s backing large guarantees and media coverage, we believe we have found a long term home for WSOPE to replicate the scale we enjoy in Las Vegas.”

The press release from the WSOP on the deal also included mention of broad media coverage of the festivals, declaring that the WSOP Europe main events will be filmed for television in 2017 and 2019, while other events during each series will feature robust live update and live streaming coverage.

The final schedule for the 2017 WSOP Europe is still being worked on by the WSOP and King’s and will be announced as soon as possible.
