The trophy for the Winamax European Shorthanded Poker Championship has been taken off Irish soil and now makes its way to France with Cyril Delaire.
The Frenchman topped a total field of 818 to take home the lion’s share of the €400,000 prize pool.
With just one Irish player at the final table to prevent it from being an all-French battle, the odds were the €65,000 top prize and the trophy would be making its way to home ground for the first time.
Delaire had the chip lead when he reached the heads-up stage versus Damien Llommeau with 12,610,000 to Llommeau’s 3,650,000. Just a few hands in and it was all over when they both got all in on a flop of 10

6. The final two cards to hit the felt were the 6 and 5 and Llommeau hit the rail in second place for €45,000.
