The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) events are now in full swing. The SCOOP is a 22-tournament series spread out over 11 days of action. Each tournament is offered with three different sets of buy-ins ranging from low, to mid, to high stakes. Buy-ins are offered for as little as $5.50 and can be as high as $25,500. Make sure you check out the full schedule of events.
Event No. 3 — Pot-Limit 5-Card Draw
The second day of SCOOP action began with pot-limit five-card draw. Despite the large turnout on day 1, the low $10 buy-in version of the event was the only tournament to meet its guarantee. In fact, the tournament nearly doubled its guarantee, eventually settling on a $42,920 prize pool. The eventual winner was xMOUSSx, who pocketed $6,545.
The mid-stakes $100 buy-in forced the site to put up $24,400 in an overlay, giving the 756 entrants a little extra to play for. In the end, dmitry99 took it down for $17,630.
It was an $80,000 overlay in the high-stakes tournament, which had a $1,000 buy-in. One hundred and twenty entrants battled it out for their share of the $200,000 prize pool. The biggest share of the money went to sexygee, who won $54,500. Just missing out on the final table was Jon "PearlJammer" Turner (pictured above left), who won $7,500 for his eighth-place finish.
Event No. 4 — Second Chance Turbo No-Limit Hold’em
It was back to hold’em for the second event of the day, and unlike the day before, these tournaments came nowhere close to 20-hour mark for duration. The low $15 buy-in tournament drew in a field of 14,496. When play got heads-up, kingcoles80 and ACB KGB decided to split the remaining prizes down the middle and play it out for the extra $2,000. kingcoles80 emerged ahead and took down the $31,178.
The mid-stakes tournament featured a much less frugal $150 buy-in and drew in 2,887, which meant a six-figure payday for the winner. Thx4UrM0ney won it outright and scored $103,335.
The $1,500 buy-in drew 552 players, creating a total prize pool of $1,251,000. The final table featured notables such as Jonathan "xxjondxx" Delong (sixth), Matt "ch0ppy" Kay (third), and Shawn "buck21" Buchanan (second, pictured right). The winner was PokerKai, who banked $237,690 for the win.
Looking Ahead
Today’s action will feature a no-limit hold’em shootout event and a pot-limit Omaha with rebuys event.
