Richard Webb, a 48-year-old from Dashwood, Ontario, has been crowned champion of the Canadian Poker Tour after 
defeating 50 players in the televised event in Ocean World Resort and Casino, Dominican Republic.
Seven players qualified for the event via PartyPoker.com but it was Webb who took for the $60,000 top prize and a one-year sponsorship deal worth $100,000. Webb beat former football player and double Grey Cup champion Bob Beveridge who received $50,000 for second place.
CPT president Kelly B. Kellner said, “He is a great champion and I couldn’t have hand picked a better player to represent us. His play over the years has exemplified all elements of discipline, risk and strategy and I look forward to travelling to poker tournaments around the world with him as CPT Champion.”
Angie Gelinas of Calgary and Carolyn Grad of Medicine Hat came third and fourth for $35,000 and $20,000 respectively.
