ESPN continues to premiere 2008 World Series of Poker episodes, and the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event is the featured tournament tonight, airing at 8 p.m. PST.
Dubbed the Players Championship, the event is considered by most pros to be the most prestigious event. It is the biggest buy-in tournament of the Series at five times the amount of the main event, making it nearly impossible for amateurs to enter on a whim. Not only do players need the a sufficient bankroll to enter the event, but they also need to be well-versed in a multitude of limit games, including hold’em, Omaha, razz, seven-card stud, and seven-card stud eight-or-better. All things considered, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event arguably boasts the toughest and most experienced fields ever assembled. It’s no surprise that this year’s final table was once again chock full of pros. Card Player TV provided an in-depth final-table preview video that included interviews with two of the players. For defeating a field of 148 players, the winner of the event took home just under $2 million of the $7.1 million prize pool, as well as the David “Chip” Reese memorial trophy.
