Plenty of Entertainment in Store for Poker Enthusiasts in August

The Great British Poker Tour: Nightly at 9 p.m.
Showcasing the best of British poker talent, the nationwide tour consists of five festivals nationwide, finishing with a £2,500 buy-in final.

Grosvenor UK Poker Tour: Mon/Wed/Sun at 10 p.m.
The series, which covers 10 cities, combines table action and behind-the-scenes interviews, with commentary from Victoria Coren, Roland de Wolfe, Marc Goodwin, and other notable UK players and experts.

World Series Gold: Daily at 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 12 a.m.
Hollywood elites such as Matt Damon and Ed Norton meet professional champions for some classic Las Vegas poker action.

From August 9:

Degree Poker Championship 2007: Saturdays at 11 p.m./Sundays at 9 p.m.
Annual Texas hold’em event at the Casino Rama, Toronto. Seventy-two contestants compete for the grand prize of $100,000, as well as a chance to win an additional $1 million and a paid seat at the 2007 World Series of Poker. (Canadian currency)

From August 15:

World Poker Crown
2008: Fridays at 10 p.m.
Coverage of the tournament which was held in June at Peralada Castle in Barcelona sees 2,200 online players compete for a massive $1,000,000 first prize.

From August 25:

World Series of Backgammon: nightly at 1 a.m.
Reportage and coverage of the two WSOB main events: the Nations Cup in Cannes where 21 countries compete for €25,000, and the Riviera Cup, which attracted Europe’s leading backgammon players and a €50,000 first prize.
