Erik Seidel, a Team Full Tilt pro with eight World Series of Poker bracelets, has won his first World Poker Tour title, collecting
$992,890 for his triumph in the Foxwoods Poker Classic.
Seidel was chip leader for most of the 12 hours of play and finally busted Andrew Barta with A-J versus 9-7 on a A-K-9 flop. His victory, along with a second place finish at the Aussie Millions in January, has catapulted him to the top of the CardPlayer Player of the Year 2008 rankings.
Fellow Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer said of the victory, “Erik Seidel has proven, once again, that even though he has amassed one of the greatest tournament records of all-time, he isn’t going to slow down anytime soon.”
Team Full Tilt comprises some of the world’s finest poker players including Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman, Erick Lindgren, Mike Matusow, and Gus Hansen, who between them have amassed 32 WSOP bracelets.
