PokerStars Sunday Million
The quarterly $1,000 buy-in version of the PokerStars Sunday Million was held last night, and it boasted the largest ever field and prize pool for the event. The tournament attracted 1,869 entrants, up from the 1,802 entrants the $1,000 buy-in version had on Dec. 30, 2007. This attendance generated a prize pool of $1,869,000, which meant the entrants were gunning for a first-place prize of $367,000.
The (not surprisingly) stacked final table culminated in threehanded play between UH Big Tex, BrokenTPot, and Governator. The three players decided to do a by-the-chips chop for the remaining prize money, and, per the PokerStars chopping rules, money was left on the line for the eventual winner. The deal guaranteed that all three players would earn more than $200,000. BrokenTPot was the first to hit the rail after the deal. He made $200,370 for third place. It was then down to UH Big Tex and Governator, and UH Big Tex sealed the deal by eliminating Governator in second ($237,200) to land the top prize. UH Big Tex’s total winnings came to $245,737.
BrokenTPot broke into the top three spots of the 2008 Card Player Online Player of the Year race with his third-place finish last night. He currently sits in third place with 2,736 points. UH Big Tex and Governator both entered the top 50 spots as a result of their finishes, sitting in 16th and 35th, respectively.

The Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed event had 3,818 entrants last night, building a prize pool of $763,600. The first-place finisher stood to snag more than $135,000. The tournament still has not recovered from its March stumble after having had very impressive turnouts through January and February.
The final two players in the event were Filipe “clotilda” Montenegro (aka Improved) and Viablo2. Clotilda eventually bested his foe to clinch the first-place payday.

UltimateBet’s $200,000-guaranteed event was looking a little bit better this week after last week’s low turnout of 804 entrants. Last night’s even had 948 runners, meaning UltimateBet had to buck up $10,400 to match the $200,000 guarantee.
The characteristically stacked final table of the event ended with Tim “Tmay_420” West (pictured at left) versus huodini for the $45,000 first-place prize. Huodini became the proud owner of that payday when he won the final hand of the tournament, knocking Tmay_420 to the rail.

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
Bodog’s $100,000-guaranteed event had its best night since the Bodog Poker Open main event on March 9 last night, although that isn’t saying a lot. The tournament had 738 entrants last night, up from 720 and 603 the last two times the event was held. Bodog came out of pocket for $26,200 to match the posted guarantee, which, of course, means a tremendously good amount of equity for those who played in the event.
The final table of the event was more stacked than usual last night, and it eventually came down to heads-up play between Kevin “WiCane” Pionkowski and SoderKrippa. WiCane ended up with all of the chips when he eliminated SoderKrippa in second place. SoderKrippa earned $14,300 for his efforts, while WiCane made $25,000 for first place.
