Julian Thew won £86,800 for triumphing at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, Brighton over the weekend. It is the Englishman’s second GUKPT title — he won leg eight of the GUKPT in Plymouth last year just before going on to take the European Poker Tour Baden.
Thew beat 279 other players to win the event — after a 2.5 hour heads-up battle with Karim Louis, which saw
Thew overcome a 2-1 chip disadvantage — and also collected his £3,000 seat to the GUKPT grand final later this year from sponsor BlueSquarePoker.
The final table payouts were:
- Julian Thew — £86,800
- Karim Louis — £46,200
- Jim Reid — £30,800
- Michael Bolger — £22,400
- Joe Grech — £16,800
- Nik Persaud — £14,000
- Marcus Bebb-Jones — £11,200
- Fabio Esposito — £8,400
- Robert Cowen — £5,600
Next stop for the tour is Walsall from Feb. 11-14, and players can qualify on BlueSquarePoker five times a week.
