Level 13: Cold Decks Served After DinnerJun 21, '10 Blinds: 1,500-3,000 Players Remaining: 51 out of 268 Average Chip Count: 157,647 Tournament Leaderboard: 1. Peter Jetten – 605,000 Notable Eliminations: J.J. Liu Big Hands: Cold Deck Does In Liu Picking up the action on the flop, J.J. Liu and Allen Kessler were involved in a hand. The board was J75 and Kessler fired 10,000 after Liu checked. Liu then check-raised to 45,000 and Kessler responded by moving all in for 112,000. Liu made the call and showed down KK but was in deep trouble against Kessler’s AA. The turn was the 9 and the river was the 4 and Liu was sent to the rail just after dinner. Hollink’s Ladies Shown The Door Rob Hollink found himself all in against Johaness Strassman after a flop of J95. Hollink held QQ but was behind Strassman’s pocket rockets, AA. The turn was the 2 and the river was the 4 and Hollink was another victim of a cold deck after the dinner break. Matusow Chipping Back Up Mike Matusow used pocket aces to double up against Josh Tieman’s pocket queens right after the dinner break. A few hands later, the board read Q656 and Matusow faced a bet of 10,500 from his opponent in the small blind. Matusow answered by raising to 22,000. His opponent mucked and Matusow took in another pot. He started the level with just over 30,000 but worked all the way back up to 85,000 with those two wins. Aces Aces EverywhereDec 08, '08 Johannes Strassmann was just involved in a pot worth the best part of 5,000 in chips. The board was A8635 and he happily turned over two rosey red aces to beat his opponent's 98. Moving across the room, the pocket rockets seem to come with us. With 2,200 in the pot the board was 753J4 and it looked like Ludovic Lacay was chipping down. He had about 3,800 left and bet 600 on the river. Otto Richard called him down and Lacay flipped over aces and smiled as he chipped up to over 7,000. Two seconds later, Alain Roy and his opponent were in a raising war. Roy finally called his opponent' s all-in on a board showing 10-5-6-Q-5 but Roy's pocket kings were not enough to withstand his opponent's pocket aces. Despite losing more than 5,500, Roy still has quite a nice stack in front of him. Player Tags: Johannes Strassmann, Otto Richard, Ludovic Lacay, Alain Roy |

Strassman Serenelli SlaughterNov 16, '08 On a board of A102, Strassman bet 1,000 and Serenelli raised to 3,500. Strassman called. The turn fell the 4. Serenelli immediately went all in and Strassman insta-called. Serenelli flipped over A3 and Strassman showed A10. There was still hope for the Italian however in the form of a 5, but the river dropped the 8 and Serenelli was busted by Strassman's two pair. Strassman moves on up the ranks.
Player Tags: Johannes Strassmann, Marino Serenelli Carnage, Doom, and No MercyNov 16, '08 In the opening 30 minutes of day 2 we have lost 15 players. The clock now reads 91 left. There are tables of doom all over the place including: Katja Thater, Alan Smurfit, and Andreas Krause A case in point of the activeness of play was Isabelle Mercier reraising a 2,000 chip bet preflop to 5,100 and then facing an all in bet of 7,300. She reluctantly called to find her A-Q up against A-K which held. She's been knocked back to 10,325 and will now have to dig deep to survive with less than 20 big blinds left. Johannes Strassman has been busted by Dario Minieri - Q-Q vs A-Q and the diminutive Italian hit his requisite ace - and Michael Keiner is also an early casualty. The ever opinionated pundits in the media room are predicting a short day and are already discussing what they might do with some time off. Play is shceduled to reach the money this evening - 24 players - and forward thinking tournament director Andrzej Maj is already breaking tables from the middle of the room to help with media access.

Tricky TablesOct 27, '08 A table to keep an eye on is one which includes the calm and collected Marcel Luske and online whizz Danny Ryan. Irishman Fintan Gavin is seated next to German Johannes Strassman on table 2, and Sorel Mizzi and Annette Obrestad are on neighbouring tables. Two players to watch out for today are, the above mentioned, Strassman who came seventh in the London EPT main event, earning a tidy sum of $211,700, and Marcin Horecki who did a good deal better in third place for $532,111 in the Victoria Casino just a few weeks ago.
