Jake Cody Gets Back To Work Building
Jake Cody hasn’t had a great day at the tables, but a few hands have gone his way this level to bring him closer to his starting stack.
On a recent hand, a player raised and Cody called from the button. Vivek Rajkumar called from the small blind as did the big blind as well.
The flop came 4 4 3 and everyone checked to Cody, who bet 1,500. Everyone folded and he chipped up to 19,000.
No More Chips For Nacho
A player raised from under the gun and Jose “Nacho” Barbero moved all in from the button for his last 5,425.
The blinds folded and his opponent called, revealing pocket sevens. Barberto showed A Q , but was unable to connect on a board reading 9 3 2 5 10 .
The Grinder Gets Felted
Michael Mizrachi fought hard to battle back after a cooler early on in the first level, but ultimately couldn’t find his way back to his starting stack.
Mizrachi made his final move with K 10 and was called by pocket nines. The board failed to provide any help and Mizrachi was eliminated.

Level 1 Update: Some Tables Tougher than Others
Nov 13, '10
Blinds: 50-100
Players Remaining: 349 (Approximate)
Eliminations:
NONE
Big Hands:
Early Tussles at Table 35
Table 35 has been a favorite haunting spot for tournament reporters early in the day here with four well-known players mixing things up. Here are a few of the early pots:
Maria Ho limped under the gun and Isaac Baron raised to 400 UTG+1. Faraz Jaka reraised to 1,200 and Ho reraised again to 3,300. The flop fell K 7 6 and Ho fired out 2,600. Jaka went into the tank and reraised to 5,900. Ho thought for a moment bu decided to muck.
In the next battle between Ho and Jaka, the board read K 10 7 when Ho bet 400 from the cutoff and Jaka made the call from the big blind. The 5 fell on the turn and Ho bet 525. Jaka thought for a quick moment but decided to muck.
Three players paid a 200 price of admission preflop and then checked down the 10 10 9 Q 5 board before Maria Ho bet 450 UTG+1. The small blind made the call and Jose Barbero mucked on the big blind. Ho flipped over Q J , which was good enough to make the small blind muck.
Medic vs. Rousso
There was 2,350 in the pot and a flop of 9 7 4 sitting on the table when the cutoff bet 2,000. Nenad Medic made the call under the gun and Vanessa Rousso then raised to 6,000 UTG+1. The cutoff mucked and Medic made the call after spending some time in the tank. The turn fell Q and Medic moved all in for 10,875. Rousso took her turn thinking things over with a little over 20,000 behind and eventually decided to muck.
Daniel Negreanu Makes a Big Laydown
Daniel Negreanu bet 1,000 from the small blind and the cutoff made the call. The flop fell 10 5 4 and Negreanu bet 1,200. His opponent made the call and the K fell on the turn. Negreanu bet 3,000 and the cutoff went into the tank. He decided to raise to 8,600 and Negreanu made the call after spending some time in the tank himself. The Q fell on the river and Negreanu checked. The cutoff bet 12,000 and after some more time in the tank Negreanu decided to muck.

Picking up the action on the turn, the board read A 9 6 A . Annette Obrestad bet 5,700 and her opponent made the call.
The river was the K and Obrestad bet 12,700. Her opponent called and she tabled A 9 8 8 for aces full.

Hellmuth Bets Out Barbero
Jose Barbero raised from the cutoff and Phil Hellmuth made the call from the big blind. The flop then came down A 5 2 and Hellmuth led out with 3,500.
Barbero made the call and the turn was the K . Both players checked to see the 6 fall on the river. Hellmuth had called for a six before the river was revealed and led out for 3,800.
Barbero mucked his hand and Hellmuth took down the pot. He was at 37,000 after the hand.
Schoenberg Jumps The Gun, Costs Herself Some Action
Picking up the action on the flop of K 6 3 , Erica Schoenberg was facing a bet of 5,000. She raised to 13,000 and Matt Venegrin made the call. The player who put in the first raise mucked.
That’s when Schoenberg shoved the rest of her stack in and turned over K K 5 2 . Apparently she thought that Venegrin had raised to put her all in.
The floor was called and Venegrin was allowed to see a turn card but mucked to Schoenberg’s set of kings after it was dealt. Venegrin’s hand had straight and flush possiblities but her premature shove cost her any action and she was at 38,000 after the hand.
