Bodog Poker Open Awards $262K in First Three Events

$30K Added to Prize Pools, Big-Name Pros Make Final Tables

The Bodog Poker Open, Bodog’s first-ever online poker tournament series, is off to a good start. The series is now halfway over, and the first three events generated a combined $262,000 in prize pools and featured some stacked final tables.

Event No. 1 — $250 No-Limit Hold’em

Evelyn Ng finished as runner-up in the first-ever Bodog Poker Open event The first event in the series had the biggest prize pool so far. The tournament, a $250 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, lured 377 entrants for a prize pool of $94,250. Bodog then added $10,000 to the prize pool — as it will do for each of the first five events, with $25,000 to be added to the prize pool of the main event — to bring the total to $104,250.

The kickoff event’s final table was appropriately stacked with Bodog pros, as two of the four members of Bodog’s team (Jean-Robert Bellande was recently added to the roster) made it to the final table. Evelyn Ng and Josh Arieh made it to fourhanded play versus notable Internet pros Joe “Dyzalot” Morneau and rusostreet. Dyzalot was sent packing in fourth place, and the chances of one of the Bodog pros leaving the table with the $26,000 first-place prize were good. Those chances went down when Arieh hit the virtual rail in third place, and Ng faced off with rusostreet to decide who would be the first-ever winner of a Bodog Poker Open event. Rusostreet shut out the Bodog pros when he raked in the final pot to win the event.

The final results were:

  1. rusostreet — $26,062
  2. Evelyn Ng — $16,680
  3. Josh Arieh — $11,571
  4. Joe “Dyzalot” Morneau — $8,340
  5. crazyz987 — $6,255
  6. organoman — $4,691
  7. joncubs69 — $3,648
  8. Quahog Kid — $2,710
  9. croth8 — $1,772

The second event of the series was a $300 buy-in shorthanded no-limit hold’em event. The event found 249 entrants to generate a prize pool of $84,700 (with the added $10,000). The first-place prize on the line was more than $23,000.

Threehanded play came down to 3pounder, Matt “SheehanMatt” Sheehan, and pepsiontherocks. SheehanMatt was the first player to bust from the three-way action, earning almost $10,000 for third place. 3pounder then went on to best his heads-up opponent to snag the top prize.

The final results were:

  1. 3pounder — $23,292

The prize pool came to $102,800, with the added money, as a result of the 270 entrants who rebought 442 times and added-on 216 times.

Alcarmo made his second Bodog Poker Open final table in just three events when he made the final table of this tournament last night. He eventually finished in fourth place, earning more than $8,000 (his total winnings so far in the series total more than $11,000). It came down to a heads-up match between ibakitup and PckAces.
