‘Giselle54’ has been absolutely dominating the high-stakes pot-limit Omaha games on CoinPoker, stacking one six-figure win on top of another. On Oct. 13, they took on fellow reg ‘GucciNIKE’and booked yet another enormous win, this time $803,103 in a single day.
Almost $500,000 of that came from GucciNIKE, primarily at $500-$1,000 with a $200 ante. A heads-up PLO specialist, GucciNIKE tried some aggressive bluffs in the match, but several of them failed in ugly fashion.
GucciNIKE’s Bluff Blows Up
Playing with 100-big blind stacks, GucciNIKE raised preflop to $3,000, and Giselle54 called.
The flop was 10♣9♦5♣, and Giselle54 checked. GucciNIKE bet $4,755, and Giselle54 called. On the 4♣ turn, Giselle54 check-called a pot-sized barrel of $15,850. Giselle54 checked again on the 5♠, and GucciNIKE fired a final pot bet of $47,550. Giselle54 called.
GucciNIKE showed 9♣8♦6♠3♠ for nines and fives. Giselle54 took the $142,710 pot with A♠5♦3♣2♣ for a flush.

Hand Analysis
GucciNIKE opens with a normal hand and gets called, then flops a weak pair with a weak draw. The 9♣ blocker can help him play some turn bluffs and blocks value, so it’s a good enough hand to continuation-bet in a heads-up scenario.
Giselle54 has a pretty marginal call with bottom pair, a bad draw, and a backdoor wheel draw. It’s a little too good to fold, but against a bigger bet size, it’s not an exciting continue.
Giselle54 hits their flush but has another clear check. This is a hand that wants to get to showdown and try to win a small or medium pot.
However, GucciNIKE doesn’t cooperate and fires a pot-sized bet. Again, the 9♣ is a nice blocker to hold here. At the same time, a pot-sized bluff is pretty risky, since GucciNIKE’s hand often has no equity when called.
The board pairs on the river, leaving GucciNIKE in an awkward spot. They have no showdown, but bluffing isn’t that attractive because they represented a flush on the turn. Generally speaking, when a player is representing a hand, and a card comes that devalues that hand, it’s prudent to give up. The story GucciNIKE is telling on the river isn’t consistent. Potting the turn represented a flush, and potting the river represented a full house.
Sure, there are some flushes that are still worth potting, like an ace-high flush with a crucial full house blocker such as a 5. But they aren’t going to come around that often.
Giselle54 held the best bluff-catcher, a flush with a 5, so GucciNIKE was never getting away with this one.
Blocker Bluff Fails for GucciNIKE
The players were 97 blinds deep for this one, which started in the same fashion preflop: GucciNIKE made it $3,000, and Giselle54 called.
Both players checked the flop, creating a board of 7♣3♥2♥6♣. Giselle54 came out potting with $6,340, and GucciNIKE called. Giselle54 potted again for $19,080 on the 10♦. This time, GucciNIKE raised to $57,060. Giselle54 called.
GucciNIKE showed J♥8♥8♠6♠, and Giselle54 took the $133,200 pot with 9♠6♥5♥4♥ for a turned straight.

Hand Analysis
A weak flush draw with no blockers to the board is a nice hand to check back for GucciNIKE on the flop, particularly when the texture will connect with the big blind’s preflop defending range. That’s what they did, so the players proceeded to a turn that brought two flush draw.
In Giselle54’s seat, many straights should be checked here, since the river will devalue them more often than not. That sort of situation always favors the in-position player. However, blocking both the turned pair and holding a heart redraw, this hand makes a good potting candidate.
GucciNIKE has a marginal continue with a pair and a weak draw. A pair of 8s will be good sometimes, and blocking the turned pair is always nice here facing a big lead. Unblocking clubs is favorable too.
The river does indeed devalue Giselle54’s hand, although it’s better than a club or a board pair. The second nuts is still good enough to bet pot here, and that’s exactly what Giselle54 does.
Unlike the prior hand, GucciNIKE has good blockers to attempt a river bluff. Unblocking clubs, hero-calling is an option as well, since they’ll occasionally win a showdown against some 5-5 and 4-4 combos. Giselle54 won’t have two pair in this line, so the 8-8 has some showdown. The in-position player might need a 5 or a 4 blocker themselves to try that, though.
GucciNIKE decides to try for the bluff, but the problem is that Giselle54 again has an excellent bluff-catcher. Naked 5-4 is quite dicey in this scenario, but holding a blocker to the nuts increases its utility. Particularly against a bet that isn’t full pot, Giselle54 has a mandatory call, punishing GucciNIKE again.
