It took an extra day to do it, but Ferenc Deak bested a massive 5,284-entry field in the $1,000 pot-limit Omaha mystery bounty event for his first World Series of Poker bracelet.
Moreover, his first piece of WSOP gold fulfills a promise to his son. The Hungarian pot-limit Omaha specialist told his son he wouldn’t come back from Vegas without a victory.
“I promised my son I would come back with a trophy,” Deak told PokerNews reporters after the victory.
Additionally, the victory is the largest score of Deak’s poker career. He took home $329,890 for the victory plus whatever bounties he scored along the way. Deak defeated Brazilian Paulo Drummond heads-up, who earned $219,890 plus bounties for his runner-up finish.
Two Top Bounties Go To Same Player
Poker players have become extremely fond of the mystery bounty format over the last few years. It adds a slight wrinkle to the bounty format and a little extra gamble.
Instead of a fixed amount for each player eliminated, once a player scores a knockout, they pick a card with varying payouts on it. In the no-limit hold’em mystery bounty, the top bounty was $1 million. In its pot-limit Omaha version, it was $100,000.
Both six-figure bounties went to 10-time WSOP Circuit champ Vincent Moscati. The Las Vegas local went on to finish 40th for another $8,970. However, with both bounties in his pocket, Moscati earned more than most at the final table.
Kyle Cartwright, a poker pro with a WSOP bracelet and nine WSOP Circuit rings lamented his own misfortune about Moscati’s score.
This sums up my summer in a nutshell. I bought a piece of every PLO event Vin played. Went 0-212. Didn’t sniff a cash. I don’t have a piece of the 1k PLO mystery bounty. He has piles with 70 ppl left and pulled both the 100k bounties. Rightttttttttt

Final Two Tables Set Up Deak For Success
The tournament was scheduled for three days, but the overwhelming turnout sent it into an unscheduled fourth day. There were 29 players still vying for the title when action for Day 4 began on Friday, but when the field combined to two tables, Deak took control.
With 13 players left, Deak won back-to-back massive pots against Quan Tran and Carlos De Lima. It catapulted him into the chip lead and he never looked back.
“With two tables left, that’s where I set myself up for going very, very deep,” Deak told PokerNews.
From there, it was smooth sailing for Deak. He made quick work of the final table, which lasted just 90 minutes, scoring three knockouts.
Here are the final table results:
