The Property Held A Ceremony Friday Morning To Mark The Opening Of The New Room

Planet Hollywood held a ceremony on Friday morning to officially reopen the property’s poker room. The Caesars-owned casino closed the former room, which was located in the middle of the casino floor, in 2021.

Caesars Entertainment announced the room’s reopening in April and released more specific details this week. The room features 23 tables, a gothic interior, 21 televisions, and a balcony overlooking the casino’s Pleasure Pit gaming area.

When Caesars announced the reopening, they said it would open before the annual World Series of Poker kicks off later this month. Some of those attending the grand opening included Planet Hollywood senior vice president Ken Ostempowski and WSOP senior vice president of poker operations and the WSOP Jack Effel.

The room is located on the mezzanine level of the resort and features a mix of dark and light colors with plenty of lighting. Other amenities and features include a full-service bar, framed posters of various films featuring Las Vegas, and an attached bathroom.

The room also includes a private room for high-stakes games and possibly for a streamed game. You can see a sneak peek of the new venue below:

The casino ran regular tournament series before closing the room four years ago, including an annual festival dubbed the “Phamous Poker Series” alongside the WSOP. A new mixed game series has already been scheduled at the property, running May 12-20.

So, how does the new Planet Hollywood poker room stack up with other Las Vegas venues? At 23 tables, the room becomes the seventh-largest poker room on the Strip, just behind MGM Grand and Aria.

However, Planet Hollywood becomes the largest Caesars poker room in Las Vegas.

According to PokerAtlas, the Venetian now has the largest poker room on the Strip with 50 tables, after unveiling a new and larger venue in August. The Bellagio is the second-largest with 37 tables, followed by Resorts World with 29 tables. Wynn checks in third with 28 tables and MGM Grand has 25 tables. Aria boasts another 24 and is followed by the Horseshoe (18 tables) and Mandalay Bay (10 tables).

Caesars Palace’s poker room had 18 tables before shutting down last year. However, the property will reopen a temporary room in a new location in the coming weeks before the WSOP gets underway. A permanent room will open at a later date with an unknown number of tables.

There are also a few large off-Strip poker rooms, including: Orleans (34); South Point (30); Red Rock (20); and Santa Fe Station (14). The Golden Nugget remains the only poker room downtown, with 13 tables.
