High Stakes Online Poker Hand Review: GucciNIKE Wins $1 Million, Crushes Omaha4rollz

A Look At Some Big PLO5 Action On CoinPoker

There was incredible action at the CoinPoker. five-card pot-limit Omaha cash tables this week, with several online crushers playing stakes of $300-$600.

The biggest winner of the day was ‘GucciNIKE,’ who made nearly a million dollars, locking in $985,804 before calling it a day. GucciNIKE mostly battled heads-up with ‘omaha4rollz,’ and took advantage of running a staggering +$376,700 over EV.

Omaha4rollz was the biggest loser of the day, dropping a whopping $846,111 while running $393,098 under expectation.

Let’s take a look at some of the big hands of the day, starting with an early four-bet pot that got in for stacks on the flop.

GucciNIKE Coolers omaha4rollz In Four-Bet Pot ($117,000)

Action

GucciNIKE raised to $1,800 with ASpade Suit AHeart Suit 10Heart Suit 6Diamond Suit 3Spade Suit and omaha4rollz three-bet to $5,400 with KDiamond Suit 10Diamond Suit 7Club Suit 7Heart Suit 6Heart Suit. GucciNIKE four-bet to $16,200 and omaha4rollz called.

On the KHeart Suit 5Diamond Suit 4Heart Suit flop, GucciNike made a pot-sized bet of $32,660. Omaha4rollz shoved for $42,150 and GucciNIKE called with about a 65% chance to win the hand.

The turn brought the 2Club Suit, giving GucciNIKE a straight while improving his odds to about 87%.

The river was the JHeart Suit, which gave GucciNIKE the nut flush and an early $117,000 pot.

Analysis

From GucciNIKE’s point of view, his hand is really easy to play from the beginning as he just had it all. Double-suited aces are going to four-bet every single time and when he flops multiple nut draws, it’s an easy pot bet on the flop.

On omaha4rollz’s end, he has a paired, double-suited hand that has a great deal of connectivity, especially when you’re playing heads-up. Equities run close in PLO5 and even against a hand as severely strong as GucciNIKE’s, he’s still roughly 41% to win preflop.

With this particular hand, it is definitely strong enough to three-bet, and also strong enough that he has to call off the four-bet.

On the flop, omaha4rollz makes top pair, a better open-ended straight draw, and a worse heart draw. Generally, this hand flops the absolute world but because GucciNIKE has the nut flush draw, he only has about a 35% chance of winning. Meanwhile, if GucciNIKE’s AHeart Suit is replaced by the ADiamond Suit, omaha4rollz would be the 65% favorite.

It’s a pretty bad cooler on the flop for omaha4rollz in the grand scheme of things, and it was just one of many on the day.

GucciNIKE’s $175,000 Bluff Catch Vs. Omaha4rollz

Action

Omaha4rollz opened to $1,800 with QDiamond Suit 10Spade Suit 8Diamond Suit 4Heart Suit 2Club Suit. GucciNIKE three-bet to $5,400 with ASpade Suit QSpade Suit 10Heart Suit 8Spade Suit 7Heart Suit, and Omaha4rollz called.

On the ADiamond Suit KSpade Suit 5Heart Suit flop, GucciNIKE continuation bet $7,373. Omaha4rollz called.

GucciNIKE checked to omaha4rollz when the QHeart Suit hit the turn, and he bet $22,200. GucciNIKE called.

The river brought the 9Club Suit and omaha4rollz moved all-in for $52,103 effective. GucciNIKE called and won $174,454 with two pair, aces and queens, beating omaha4rollz’s pair of queens.

Analysis

Omaha4rollz is going to be opening the large majority of his hands from the button and was reasonably connected, though single-suited. GucciNIKE had a hand worthy of three-betting and did so. Omaha4rollz is also going to call a three-bet at an extremely high frequency and did so with his mildly-connected hand.

Omaha4rollz was in pretty bad shape given he was dominated with three cards plus he only had a single flush draw against the GucciNIKE’s double-suited hand. In fact, GucciNIKE was about a 55% to 29% favorite, with a 16% chance of a chop, which is a huge gap in PLO5.

The flop gave GucciNIKE a strong top pair plus a gutshot straight draw and two backdoor flush draws. It’s a strong enough hand to put in a continuation bet and call a raise, if necessary.

Omaha4rollz had eight clean outs to the nuts with jacks and threes, as well as a strong backdoor diamond draw. He had more than enough equity to call, though he was now a 60%-24% underdog.

The turn was where the hand got a bit spicy as J-10 would make the nuts, and each player held a 10 in their hand. GucciNIKE decided to slow down and put out a check with two pair, a 10-high flush draw, and straight outs to boot. He can comfortably check-call with this hand as he can outdraw the current nuts.

Omaha4rollz picked up nothing more than a pair but decided with the 10 blocker and GucciNIKE showing weakness that he was going to represent J-10.

The 9Club Suit was a total blank and omaha4rollz stuck with his story and shoved the river, knowing that GucciNIKE almost certainly didn’t have J-10. GucciNIKE was aware that omaha4rollz knew this and decided to hero off with two pair and a nut blocker, knowing that he had to call about $52,000 to win $175,000 and only had to be correct about 30% of the time to be profitable.

This time, he was right and raked in a huge pot.

Omaha4rollz Flops Top Set, Loses Huge $255,000 Pot

Deep into the session, omaha4rollz had already been getting battered, but it was about to get worse as he flopped top set with one of the better starting hands in PLO5 and still managed to get stacked again, this time for $255,000.

Action

GucciNIKE opened to $1,800 with ADiamond Suit 9Diamond Suit 8Spade Suit 6Heart Suit 5Spade Suit and omaha4rollz three-bet to $5,400 with KClub Suit KSpade Suit QClub Suit JDiamond Suit 10Diamond Suit. GucciNIKE called.

The flop came KDiamond Suit 7Heart Suit 5Diamond Suit and omaha4rollz checked. GucciNIKE bet $5,573 and omaha4rollz raised to $16,676. GucciNIKE called.

The turn was the 8Heart Suit and omaha4rollz checked. GucciNIKE potted to $44,413 and omaha4rollz shoved for $105,742. GucciNIKE called.

They opted to run it twice.

The first river was the 10Heart Suit and GucciNIKE won $127,988.54 with a ten-high straight. The second river was the 6Club Suit and GucciNIKE wins $127,998.54 with a nine-high straight.

Analysis

GucciNIKE had an easy open with a double-suited, very-connected middle-card hand with a suited ace to boot. Omaha4rollz was near the top of his range with a super-connected king-king double-suited hand and had a mandatory three-bet.

GucciNIKE could four-bet his hand a decent amount of the time if they were playing 100 bigs deep. However, given that they were well over 200 bigs deep, flatting and seeing a flop in position sounded like a better option than potentially having to call a five-bet preflop for nearly $50,000 and likely getting stacks in on the flop. GucciNIKE’s hand had a 1% equity advantage preflop.

The flop gave omaha4rollz top set and a flush draw, while GucciNIKE was extremely happy himself, flopping the nut flush draw as well as a huge wrap and bottom pair.

When omaha4rollz decided to check-raise, it appeared that GucciNIKE was putting omaha4rollz on exactly what he had: top set. Given the stack sizes, a player as experienced as GucciNIKE would rather see if any bad turn cards showed up rather than flip for it as a 5% underdog. He also got the benefit of under-repping the strength of his hand.

On the 8Heart Suit turn, GucciNIKE drilled his best straight and potted it immediately. There was no use slowplaying as he could be outdrawn on the river against full houses and some better straights and his opponent would still get it in with worse.

Omaha4rollz had no choice but to jam with a top set, a flush draw, and a gutshot straight draw, even though he knew he’d be behind a lot of the time. Without his diamonds being dominated, he would usually have about a 42-45% chance of winning the hand and those pot odds are too good. They’d certainly run it twice and he’d have a great shot to at least chop.

However, he ended up in terrible shape, just about as bad as he could imagine in PLO, with a 29% chance to win.

They ran it twice and GucciNIKE ended up scooping the whole thing, winning a massive $255,000 and inflicting even more pain omaha4rollz’s way.
