The World Series of Poker $10,000 main event is less than a week away, and Phil Hellmuth is already preparing – at least for his entrance costume.
The 17-time bracelet winner posted a video on X/Twitter on Wednesday giving followers a preview of what to expect. Hellmuth’s entrances into the tournament with extravagant costumes and escorts have been a regular part of the annual series.
This year, the “Poker Brat” will be transformed into Superman – at least the Hellmuth version. Hellmuth and his stylist outlined what to expect, and Hellmuth showed off the body suit that would be the foundation of the get-up. His wardrobe stylist Lauren Schugar outlined what his superhero attire would actually look like.
“We are going to do this costume up,” Schugar said. “We’re getting a gold cape made, the logo’s going here [pointing to chest], we’re going to have a utility belt, we’re going to have under-armor tactical boots with gold laces, and who knows what else.”
Hellmuth hinted that a Clark Kent-type persona might be part of the experience as well. According to Hellmuth, he and Superman have some similar abilities. The 1989 main event winner once said that he can dodge bullets at the poker table.
“Okay folks, let’s go,” Hellmuth said this week in teasing the super suit. “We have to have the costume ready. I’m just going to rip something off and show Superman!”

Hellmuth Costume History
While Hellmuth’s costumed entrances may draw mixed reactions among players, the spectacles do add some buzz to the main event. His superhero announcement this week came after posting a look back at some other recent entrances that included Dan “Jungleman” Cates.
Some of those included dressing up as a “Highway to Hellmuth” rock star in 2025 and Hellmuth as a lion tamer with Cates serving as the lion in 2024. Other past characters for the poker pro have included Julius Caesar, a mixed martial arts fighter, Darth Vader, a NASCAR driver, and more.
The NASCAR experience came with some actual hands-on driving. However, his skills behind the wheel lacked what he has on the felt. His spin in the car ended with Hellmuth smashing into a concrete pillar in the Rio parking lot.
Beyond the super duds, Hellmuth made news recently in a markup controversy involving his son’s play in the main event. That led to a significant wager with Shaun Deeb.
In February, Hellmuth announced a move to Las Vegas and discussed a hand of poker he recently played against four-time NFL Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski.
