High-stakes pot-limit Omaha bosses ‘Giselle54‘ and ‘GucciNIKE‘ got back to it in their long-running heads-up match, playing some $500-$1,000 with $200 antes this week on CoinPoker. They played mostly 5-card PLO, though some regular PLO was mixed in as well.
Across two days of play, Giselle54 won about $340,000. That put Giselle54 in the black for the year in the match, though only just barely. They are now up about $40,000, a piddling number when the smallest stakes in the match have been $200-$400.
GucciNIKE Bluffs Without Blockers
Playing 140 big blinds deep, GucciNIKE made it $3,000, Giselle54 three-bet to $9,000, and GucciNIKE four-bet to $27,000.
The flop came J♠9♥3♥, and both players checked, bringing the 4♥. Giselle54 bet $12,500, and GucciNIKE called. On the 6♠ river, Giselle54 checked. GucciNIKE bet $39,393, and Giselle54 called.
GucciNIKE showed A♠A♦K♠2♠2♦. Giselle54 had Q♣J♥10♦9♣8♥ for a flush.

Hand Analysis
Preflop, Giselle54 has a clear three-bet, and GucciNIKE has a slam dunk four-bet.
They go to a flop, one that favors Giselle54. This is a flop that features quite a few leads from the out-of-position player in a four-bet pot, since they’ll be facing aces pretty often, albeit sometimes with backup in the form of hearts and straight draws.
Giselle54 does opt to check and sees the turn for free, which seems straightforward on GucciNIKE’s end, given that they don’t block hardly any continues.
The small turn lead from Giselle54 can garner a bit of value, essentially betting what the hand is worth. Bigger bets are only going to encourage GucciNIKE to fold out weaker hands while keeping in medium-strength flushes, some of which will beat a jack-high flush.
On the river, Giselle54’s hand probably isn’t good enough to bet for value. GucciNIKE will have some lower flushes, but not that many, given the cards on the board. A bet is probably more likely to just get called by king-high and queen-high flushes.
GucciNIKE has an interesting decision on whether to bluff the river. On the one hand, their blockers are terrible, having no hearts. On the other hand, aces don’t seem likely to have any showdown value, especially given that Giselle54 is aggressive enough not to miss many river bluffs.
When bluffing with poor blockers, smaller sizes are preferred, and that’s the route GucciNIKE goes, but Giselle54’s bluff-catch works for a $158,186 pot.
Giselle54 Plays Cautiously With Nut Flush
With deep 312-blind stacks, Giselle54 raised to $3,000, GucciNIKE made it $9,000, and Giselle54 called.
The flop came Q♦9♦6♠. GucciNIKE checked, Giselle54 bet $12,000, and GucciNIKE called. Both players checked the 4♣. The river was the J♦, and GucciNIKE potted for $42,340. Giselle54 called.
GucciNIKE showed A♣K♦K♥4♠4♦ for a king-high flush, but it was no good against A♦3♣3♥2♦2♣.

Hand Analysis
Playing 300 blinds deep changes things a lot in poker, as the deeper stacks get, the more strategies center around the nuts. Blocking the nuts becomes more important for bluffing, and having the nuts becomes more important when piling tons of money into the pot.
It’s also going to mandate more passive play out of position, and GucciNIKE checks a hand that could bet at lower stacks, even though it doesn’t block anything on the board. Kings with a flush draw just don’t want to play a huge pot, and it wouldn’t be fun to bet-fold that sort of equity.
On the flip side, Giselle54 has a hand that also likes to check back at lower stacks, but can comfortably bet-call with tons of money behind.
GucciNIKE continues the passive approach after turning a set, which makes sense, as continued aggression from Giselle54 would rep better than bottom set. Giselle54 has no blockers and a decent draw, so they opt to see a river, where an interesting card arrives.
GucciNIKE could check-call, but bet-folding seems nice, unblocking a ton of medium-strength flushes that may pay off.
Giselle54 makes a fascinating decision to just call with the nut flush. Perhaps they don’t expect lower flushes to pay off a big raise in this situation, and they may be more concerned than usual about a bet-three-bet with a straight flush.
GucciNIKE would have had a very interesting opportunity against a raise. Though the 10♦ would be the best blocker to go for a sick bluff, the K♦ could work, too. Few, if any, players would be willing to try such a move, but 300 blinds deep would be the time to do it, as the money behind would actually be enough to put fear of the nuts into an opponent with an ace-high flush.
