Dick Van Patten and his son, Vince Van Patten (of World Poker Tour fame), will compete in the Eight Is Enough star's No Limit Texas Hold'em Celebrity Poker Tournament. This year's tournament is set to raise money for a holiday party for the children of servicemen and women stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps Twentynine Palms base.

Scheduled for Nov. 10-12, 2006, at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Palm Springs, California, the tournament features a prize pool of $75,000 (based on 400 entries at $300 per entry). Joining the Van Pattens will be singer and star of Palm Springs Weekend Connie Stevens.

According to the elder Van Patten, he feels a deep connection to the men and women of the Marines.

"My father was a Marine. I have a soft spot in my heart for Marines," he said in a recent Press-Enterprise article.
