Johannes Straver Wins Wynn Summer Classic Championship For $1.8 Million

Dutch Poker Pro Outlasts 1,170 Entries In $10 Million Guaranteed $10,000 Event

A total of 1,170 entries were made in the 2026 Wynn Summer Classic $10,400 no-limit hold’em championship, surpassing the $10 million guarantee to create a final prize pool of $11,466,000.

Johannes Straver of the Netherlands emerged victorious in the end, securing the title and the first-place prize of $1,824,370.

This was the largest score yet for Straver. The bracelet winner’s previous top payday came earlier this year, when he placed fourth in a $150,000 high roller at the Triton Jeju stop for $1,161,000. With this latest triumph in Las Vegas, his career earnings now sit at over $8 million.

In addition to the money and the hardware, Straver also secured 2,400 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion. This was his second final-table finish of 2026. With 2,880 total points, he now sits inside the top 40 in the overall POY standings presented by CoinPoker.

Straver came into the final table as the second-shortest stack. He laddered when Linglin Zeng’s (9th – $166,716) pocket kings were cracked by the pocket queens of Giorgiy Skhulukhiya.

After Guillermo Sanchez Otero bowed out in eighth place ($214,070), another elimination came down thanks to a cracked preflop monster. Yi Ye three-bet preflop with AA and two-time bracelet winner Jans Arends called with QJ. The rest of the chips went in after the 763 flop. Ye was in dire straits after Arends flopped a flush, and the 2 turn officially left her drawing dead. Ye earned $280,688 as the seventh-place finisher.

Six To One

Joris Ruijs’ (6th – $375,626) exit left just five contenders remaining. Ben Fan was soon all-in with Q9 trailing the 1010 of Arends. The flop came down Q93 to give Fan top two pair and a big lead in the hand. The K turn added a flush draw for Fan, but the J river gave Arends a winning straight and the knockout. Fan earned $506,195 as the fifth-place finisher.

Mario Quilez got the last of his stack in with A6 against the 77 for Skhulukhiya. The pair held up this time to end Quilez’s run in fourth place ($683,603).

Skhulukhiya and Arends soon squared off in a massive showdown that set up the heads-up finale. The chips went in with Skhulukhiya’s top pair of queens facing straight and flush draws for Arends. A brick on the river sent saw Arends eliminated in third place ($922,325). The Dutch pro now has over $7.8 million in lifetime cashes.

Straver was able to close out the win from there, defeating his Georgian opponent to claim the title. Skhulukhiya secured $1,224,978 for his efforts, growing his career haul to nearly $5.1 million in the process.
