With more than 340,000 subscribers, Ethan “Rampage” Yau has one of the most popular YouTube channels in poker.
In previous years, any revenue from the channel has been supplementary, as the poker pro consistently achieved positive results in both live and online poker sites.
However, this year is the opposite. In a recent social media post, Yau detailed how much he lost playing poker this year so far. The New England native is down $357,213 through the first half of 2025.
In other words, he has lost more followers than his YouTube channel has subscribers.

Poker Losses Of More Than $848 Per Hour
Over the course of his vlog, subscribers watched Yau rise up the ranks from small-stakes no-limit hold’em to nosebleed-stakes livestreamed games. Viewers even got to watch him win a World Series of Poker bracelet during the online series in 2020.
With the total loss coming over nearly 421 hours of poker, he is losing at a rate of just over $848/hour. The nominal amount is eye-catching, but probably close to a loss rate of about 8.5 big blinds/hour.
Fellow high-stakes regular Matt Berkey responded to Yau with his own personal results. He showed an even bigger loss for 2025. Berkey’s results showed 2025 losses of more than $1.5 million thus far.
“Welcome to the high stakes, it swings,” said Berkey.
So far, Yau lost every lost every month except May, when he won $40,646. The biggest loss came in January when he hemorrhaged more than $102,000, losing $2,986 per hour played.
In February, Yau posted more significant losses – shedding almost $100,000 of his bankroll, a loss of $2,300 per hour at the tables. July hasn’t started out well either and the vlogger is already down more than $23,000.
Daniel Negreanu has also been known to offer an annual look at his wins and losses, giving followers some insight about what it’s like to regularly play at high stakes.
