The 2025 Venetian DeepStack Championship $1,600 no-limit hold’em UltimateStack $1.5 million guaranteed event drew a sizable turnout of 1,587, besting the guarantee by more than $750,000 in the process.
The top 199 finishers made the money, with payouts ranging from $3,446 all the way up to $286,349. That sum was ultimately awarded to Kenneth Odonnell. This was the second-largest score for the 2023 World Series of Poker $600 deepstack bracelet winner. That triumph at the series came with a $351,098 payday.
Odonnell now boasts career earnings of more than $1.1 million after this win at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.
The St. Petersburg, Florida resident had plenty of tough competition to deal with down the stretch, including Jacob Ferro (53rd), Kevin Garosshen (14th), World Poker Tour Venetian winner Qing Liu (7th), and 2024 WSOP main event eighth-place finisher Joseph Serock (5th).
Serock Wins A Wild One At The Final Table
A big hand from Venetian Poker Live’s streaming coverage of this event went viral. The clash involved Serock and sixth-place finisher Vijai Santhanam. The showdown began with Serock min-raising to 1,000,000 from the cutoff with A♣K♠. Santhanam called with Q♦10♦ and the flop came down K♦J♣9♠. He checked with his flopped straight and Serock bet 750,000. Santhanam then check-raised to 2,000,000 and Serock called. The A♦ turn gave Santhanam a royal flush redraw to go with his now ace-high straight. He checked again and Serock value bet 1,500,000 with his top two pair. Santhanam check-raised again, this time for a 4,125,000 shove. Serock made the call and was in need of an ace or king on the end. The K♣ completed the board, giving Serock a winning full house to send Santhanam to the rail with $69,411.
