Preflop, final table, four handed, with the blinds at 12,000 and 24,000 and a 3,000 ante, Petrangelo went all-in from the button, Drinan reraised to 175,000 from the small blind, and Dzmitry Urbanovich folded in the big blind.

Analysis

Petrangelo was running on fumes at the start of this hand, and was undoubtedly happy to find two broadway cards when the action folded to him on the button. Drinan realized his opponent would shove with any two cards in this situation, so he submitted an isolating reraise with two broadway cards of his own. Petrangelo had his opponent dominated, and was looking good to chip up. While the turn gave him top pair, it was actually one of the worst cards in the deck for him as it suddenly gave Drinan an open ended straight flush draw and 15 outs. Drinan outdrew Petrangelo on the river where he completed the straight, eliminating Petrangelo in 4th for €205,900. This was a nice result for the up and comer as he started the final table last in chip position with only 12 big blinds. A week later Petrangelo would make the final table of another big buy-in event in Malta, where he finished in 6th for €139,000. These results come on the heels of his 6th place finish at a PCA high roller event in January where he earned $301,500.
