30-year-old Derrick Rosenbarger has emerged victorious in the 2013 World Poker Tour partypoker.net Montreal $3,850 no-limit hold’em main event, topping a field of 862 entries to win his first major title, the $500,824 CAD ($517,049 USD) first-place prize and 1,368 Card Player Player of the Year points. Rosenbarger has been a pilot in the Air Force for eight years, residing in Clovis, New Mexico.
Rosenbarger entered the final table in fifth chip-position, but was able to make it to heads-up play with Mukul Pahuja, who held a toughly 2-to-1 chip lead. The heads-up battle lasted 64 hands, with plenty of back-and-forth. Rosenbarger had pulled out to a lead of 2-to-1 himself by the time the final hand arose.
Rosenbarger raised to 600,000 from the button and Pahuja shoved for roughly 7 million. Rosenbarger made the call with the Q
