PokerStars Says German Regulation Protects Players

Awarding Of License Sees Company Thank Regulator

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker company, has thanked the German state of Schleswig-Holstein for granting it a license to operate in the territory.

Guy Templar, head of business development, said the move would protect consumers and jobs: “By opening up the market, Schleswig-Holstein has demonstrated its understanding of German players’ needs and the prevailing market reality.

“Thanks to Schleswig-Holstein gambling law (GlüG S-H), consumer protection, jobs and regulation can be reliably implemented.”

Other companies to be granted a license include Betfair, 888 and Ladbrokes with more to follow.
