Updates on Final Day (Jun 20, 05)

Two Pair

Both players make two pair, but Denis Ethier's two pair are better than Chad Browns. The small win Brown had a few moments ago has been washed out. Brown is back in a little bit of trouble down 4-1 in chips.

Step In the Right Direction

Finally Chad Brown has won a pot. Brown had three sevens and that was enough to scoop the whole pot. This win does not even out the match, but it does cut into Denis Ethier's chip lead.

Ethier Grinding Away

Slowly, Denis Ethier is grinding down Chad Brown. Small pots, large pots, medium pots, it does not matter. Brown can't hit a card to beat Ethier no matter what. Ethier is winning almost every pot and Brown looks frustrated.

Ethier Strikes Again

Denis Ethier has just scooped another pot away from Chad Brown. Brown had two pair, aces and queens, while Ethier had a straight. Ethier's straight was also good enough for an 8-low, and a big victory. Ethier now has almost a 4-1 chip lead.

Denis Ethier Keeps Chopping

Denis Ethier is slowly chopping Chad Brown down. Most of the pots are split, but when they are not, Ethier wins. Ethier just took down another pot and added to his chip lead. Perhaps this will be a little shorter than expected.

Chip Lead Swings

The first major swing of this duel, and Denis Ethier has become the chip leader. Chad Brown had been calling Ethier down and folded after a Ethier bet on 7th street. The victory propels Ethier into the chip lead.

Play is Slow

Since this is a split pot game, the final two players may be here a while. Many times big pots have taken place, but each time the pot is split and the chips return home. This could be a very long night.

Chip Counts

1. Chad Brown - $310,000
2. Denis Ethier - $250,000

Jennifer Harman Eliminated in 3rd Place ($53,903)

Jennifer Harman had a lot of outs. She needed to pair up, or hit any card under an 8 to make a low and split the pot. Unfortunately, she was unable to hit any cards and was eliminated by Denis Ethier. Ethier's pair of fours held up, barely, and eliminated Harman.

Break Over

The break is over and the players have returned to action.
