Official Chip Counts

Here are the official chip counts from the break:

Mike Vela - 13,015,000
Nick Schulman - 4,255,000

The blinds are still at 60,000-120,000, with a 15,000 ante, and Schulman will start with the button and the small blind.

Hand #71: Defending Champion Nenad Medic Eliminated in 3rd Place ($486,367)

Hand #71 - Mike Vela has the button in seat 2, he raises to 450,000, Medic thinks for a moment before he moves all in for 2,930,000, and Vela immediately calls with AJ. Medic shows A7, and he's dominated and facing elimination here. Could this be the end of Nenad Medic's title defense?

The flop comes K98, and Vela retains the lead with his jack kicker. The turn card is the J, which gives Vela a pair but Medic picks up an extra out with a gutshot straight draw. He needs a ten on the river to stay alive.

The river card is the J, and Mike Vela wins the pot with trip jacks.

Defending WPT Foxwoods champion Nenad Medic is eliminated in third place, earning $486,367.

There will be a short break before heads-up play begins between Nick Schulman and Mike Vela. Official chip counts will be posted soon.

Hand #70: Mike Vela

Hand #70 - Nenad Medic has the button in seat 1, and Vela raises from the small blind to 460,000, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #69: Nick Schulman

Hand #69 - Nick Schulman has the button in seat 5, and he raises to 350,000, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #68: Nenad Medic

Hand #68 - Mike Vela has the button in seat 2, he raises to 425,000, Medic thinks for about 30 seconds before he moves all in from the big blind, and Vela folds. Nenad Medic takes the pot.

Someone in the Way...

The two former champions of this event remain but they now have a major roadblock in the way. Vela has over 10 million, and neither Medic or Schulman have even half of that. Anything can happen in poker, so they still have a fighting chance, but fate will have to smile broadly upon them if they hope to catch Vela.

Hand #67: Mike Vela

Hand #67 - Nenad Medic has the button in seat 1, and Vela raises from the small blind to 455,000, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #66: Nenad Medic

Hand #66 - Nick Schulman has the button in seat 5, Medic completes from the small blind to 120,000, and Vela checks his option. The flop comes 874, Medic checks, Vela bets 300,000, and Medic calls. The turn card is the 5, and both players check. The river card is the 9, Medic bets 600,000, and Vela folds. Nenad Medic takes the pot.

Blinds Increase (Properly)

The blinds are now at 60,000-120,000, with a 15,000 ante -- where they should have been two hands ago. Play continues without a break.

Hand #65: Nick Schulman

Hand #65 - Mike Vela has the button in seat 2, Schulman raises from the small blind to 300,000, and Medic calls from the big blind. The flop comes KQ10, and both players check. The turn card is the 4, Schulman checks, Medic bets 500,000, and Schulman calls. The river card is the Q, and both players check. Schulman shows Q3 for trip queens, and Medic mucks. Nick Schulman wins the pot.

During Hand #65, the tournament director realizes that a mistake was made, and the blind structure should have gone to 60,000-120,000, with a 15,000 ante. Expect something to happen before the next hand.
