Heading in to the final table today fate seemed to be smiling at Steve Sung. He was calm and confident while chatting with us before the final table and you could tell no player wanted to win more than him. He also had a large group of friends in Perlada to support him (Nam Le, JC Alvarado, Adam Levy, and Kirk Morrison, who was very fond of screaming "I-gar-ra," which is Korean for win baby). It looked as if he was destined to become king of the castle as long as he could avoid Gus Hansen. When Gus busted in fifth place, it was Sung's table to lose. Fate was not too kind to Sung in the end though.
Sung had already been coolered once at this final table in a hand where his sixes up lost to Christer Johansson's kings up. For him to get coolered again to end his tournament with kings vs. aces in a suck, re-suck roller coaster ride is just cruel and unusual punishment. Poker is a cruel game.
