Outcome
Preflop, final table, heads-up, with the blinds at 100,000 and 200,000 and a 25,000 ante, Lafaye called on the button, Moorman raised to 600,000, and Lafaye called. On the flop Moorman bet 525,000, Lafaye went all-in, and Moorman called.
Analysis
Lafaye deployed an all-in semibluff with his flopped open-ended straight draw, banking on the hope that Moorman probably missed and would oblige him with the fold. And of course if called, he knew he had outs. Moorman had a calling hand though, and faded the straight cards to score his first casino major and $1,015,460. He was on a short list of the best players out there without a major title under his belt, and is one of the winningest online players who successfully transitioned to live play. Lafaye scored his largest cash to date with his runner-up finish for $662,840.
