Outcome
Final table, heads-up, with the blinds at 200,000 and 400,000 and a 50,000 ante, Julius raised to 825,000 from the button, Dibella called in the big blind. On the Flop, Dibella checked, Julius bet 725,000, Dibella called. On the Turn, Dibella checked, Julius checked. On the River, Dibella bet 1,000,000, Julius went all-in, Dibella called.
Analysis
Julius' hero play on the river was probably at least partially derived from the deal these gentlemen made when heads-up play began. They agreed to lock up 1.5m each and play for the relatively small 275,000 on the side. Julius may have suspected his opponent would never check the turn with the Ace given the possible straight and flush draws, prompting his attempt on the river to follow up on his preflop and flop bets with a further representation of the Ace. Dibella had check-called with something on the flop though, and if it was not an ineffective out of position float than a good part of that range would be the Ace or the flush draw. Julius earned 1.5m for his runner up finish, while Dibella scored the title and the biggest cash of his career at $1,775,000.
