Mark Newhouse was born on March 11, 1985 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He grew up there and became somewhat of a rebellious teenager. After high school, Newhouse attended Appalachian State University in North Carolina. He had already begun playing poker in small-stakes home games with his friends. He then worked up the ranks online and began crushing the high-stakes limit games. After a year and a half of college, Newhouse took the road less traveled and quit school to become a professional poker player.
Since then, Newhouse made a World Series of Poker final table in the 2006 limit event and followed that with a first place in the 2006 World Poker Tour Borgata Open main event. He took home just over $1.52 million. He continues playing big cash games online and at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles.
