In terms of poker, like a great wine, Thor Hansen seems to get better with age. He was born on June 23, 1947 in Oslo, Norway, but currently resides in El Segundo, California. He has been cashing in major tournaments since 1988. That same year, he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in a $5,000 seven-card stud event. Years later, in 2002, he won another bracelet in a $1,500 ace-to-five lowball event. Hansen is known for his ability to play all variations of poker at a very high skill level.
His performance at the 2007 WSOP shows that his years of experience make him much more consistent than the average player. He cashed six times, bringing his total number of WSOP cashes to 39. Nearly half of all of those cashes were top-ten finishes. True to form, three of his six 2007 cashes were at the final table, including an eighth-place finish in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event.
