Born on December 24, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Tom Schneider is no stranger to poker. He learned to play at the age of 10 with his mother and friends. One summer he was paid $5 a day to babysit his younger sister and would usually use the money to play five-card draw with his friends. He saw that this could be a lucrative venture and continued playing through high school.
At the age of 19, his sister gave him Doyle Brunson's Super System. The book proved to be truly influential on his game as he began making regular trips to Las Vegas to play limit hold'em. He continued to step up to higher limits. Meanwhile, Schneider was attending Arizona State University. He eventually received a degree in finance and accounting. Schneider used poker to supplement his income while he had a job in the golf industry. He worked his way all the way up and became president of Royal Precision. He soon became sick of the corporate world and decided to write a poker book titled Oops, I Made Too Much Money. Schneider is no longer working in the golf industry, but instead playing poker and cohosting a poker radio show called "Beyond the Table," available for free on iTunes. At the 2007 World Series of Poker, Schneider really caught the attention of the poker community when he won both the $2,500 buy-in mixed limit Omaha eight-or-better and seven-card stud eight-or-better tournament and the $1,000 buy-in seven-card stud eight-or-better tournament. Since he also made the final table at the $2,500 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event, Schneider was named the WSOP Player of the Year. He continued his hot streak at the World Poker Tour and made a televised final table at the 2007 Legends of Poker. He finished fourth and now has more than $1 million in tournament winnings.
