PokerGO’s Jeff Platt called it one of the best calls in the history of the show.
Shawn Madden picked off a bluff from Garrett Adelstein in a $721,000 pot on the latest episode of No Gamble No Future.
The blinds were $400-$800 with an $800 big blind ante and Adelstein put the $1,600 straddle out as well.
Action folded to Madden in the small blind, who raised to $5,000 with A♠10♦ with $381,000 in front of him. Adelstein defended his straddle with Q♥2♥.
According to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator, it was still a close race preflop. Madden had a 61% chance to win the hand, while Adelstein clocked in with nearly 39% equity.
That all changed when the flop was 10♥9♣4♦ and Madden’s chances improved to more than 80% with top pair top kicker.
Madden bet $7,000 and Adelstein called. The turn was the 8♦ which gave Adelstein a straight draw. His odds to win dropped to 16%, but those odds went out the window when Adelstein tried to win without showdown.
Madden bet $15,000 and Adelstein raised to $55,000. Madden called and the pot quickly ballooned to $136,400. The river was the K♠ and Madden checked. Adelstein went all in for $292,300, which sent Madden into the tank.
Oh Golly, What A Big Bet
“I don’t know,” Madden mumbled while mulling over his option. “A big bluff? Maybe. Oh golly, I don’t know.”
Adelstein sat silently while Madden tanked. The world champion livestock auctioneer and part-time poker player had Adelstein slightly covered. After some contemplation, Madden took off his cowboy hat and put the chips in the middle, taking down a $721,000 pot.
“That’s one of the best calls we have seen in the history of the show,” said Jeff Platt after Madden called.
Adelstein looked shocked as the chips went to Madden, but he gave a fist-bump to his opponent for making the world-class call. You can see the entire hand in the video below:
