May 31, 2015
The official numbers are in for the inaugural World Series of Poker $565 Colossus event. The tournament had a $5 million guarantee, which it blew out of the water almost instantly. In the end a record total of 22,374 entries were made, making this the largest live poker tournament of all time and building a total prize pool of $11,187,000. In the end the eventual champion is set to walk away with $638,880. That means that if the winner only bought in once, they would walk away with 1,130 times their buy-in for a ROI of 112,976% for the event. Card Player TV caught up with WSOP VP of Corporate Communications Seth Palansky shortly after the numbers were announced to learn more about this incredible event.
