WATCH: Phil Ivey Busts $25K WSOP PLO High Roller in 6th Place

A Heart On The River Gave The Last Of Ivey's Chips To Michael Duek

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey was closing in on his 12th World Series of Poker bracelet but was denied by an untimely river card, which sent him out of the $25,000 pot-limit Omaha high roller in sixth place.

Ivey took home $394,531, thanks to a juicy prize pool north of $11.7 million event attracted an incredible 489 entries.

With live and online poker legends all over the place, Ivey had to fight and claw his way through the competition. Unfortunately, he won’t compete on the final day after 2022 WSOP main event third-place finisher Michael Duek sent him home.

Duek, who has almost exclusively played high rollers since his main event run, will head into the five-man final day second in chips.

Ivey’s Flops A Set, Still Busts

With six players remaining in the tournament, the blinds were 125,000-250,000 with a 250,000 big blind ante.

Ivey limped in from the hijack with KHeart SuitKClub Suit4Spade Suit4Diamond Suit. Talal Shakerchi called on the button with QClub Suit9Diamond Suit8Club Suit6Club Suit , and Evan Krentzman called from the small blind with KSpade SuitQDiamond Suit10Spade Suit4Club Suit. Michael Duek potted it to 1,250,000 with AHeart SuitAClub Suit10Heart Suit2Spade Suit and Ivey called. Shakerchi and Krentzman both folded.

The flop was QHeart Suit9Club Suit4Heart Suit and Duek potted it to 3,250,000. Ivey went all in for 3,475,000 and Duek called.

The turn was the 10Club Suit, which kept Ivey in the lead. But the river was the JHeart Suit and Duek won the 10.2 million-chip pot with an ace-high flush.
