Final table, four handed, with the blinds at 20,000 and 40,000 and a 5,000 ante, Talal Shakerchi (2m) raised to 80,000 from under the gun, Jaka called on the button, Volpe reraised all-in from the big blind, Shakerchi folded, Jaka called.

Jaka camouflaged the strength of his hand by just flat calling preflop, his AJ was quite strong in light of four handed play against Shakerchi’s opening raise. Volpe was laboring with a stack of 15 big blinds and woke up with an Ace of his own, and he quickly moved in hoping to end the hand preflop but likely expecting his Ace high would be leading if called. Jaka’s trap was successfully sprung, but Volpe overcame domination to pair his kicker on the flop. Jaka picked up a gutterball redraw on the turn, but failed to catch an Eight or his Jack on the river. Jaka lost 22% of his stack on the beat, but Volpe’s run subsequently ended as he busted in 4th for £107,410. Volpe has been on quite a heater lately, following his back to back WPT final tables at the LA Poker Classic and Bay 101 Shooting Star tournaments with this deep EPT run.
