Born in Irvine, California, 25-year-old Nam Le now resides in Huntington Beach. He is a professional poker player who was mentored by fellow pro player Tuan Le. Nam learned to play by watching Tuan play at the highest stakes.
Nam has had a number of big cashes in tournaments, but his biggest score came in the 2006 World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star event. He managed to outlast more than 500 players to take down the first-place prize of more than $1.1 million. He also cashed in 19 other major events in 2006 and made 10 final tables, including second-place finishes in the WPT Legends of Poker and the Festa al Lago Classic. He finished second in the Card Player 2006 Player of the Year final standings.
In 2007, Le has followed the WPT tournament trail closely, making numerous cashes along the way. After just missing the WPT televised final three times this year with an eleventh-place finish at the Foxwoods Poker Classic, twelfth at the Mirage Poker Showdown, and eighth at the Bellagio Cup III, he finally made one at the inaugural Turks and Caicos Poker Classic. Le finished sixth. Le is continuing his amazing WPT track record into 2008, as he has cashed in two championship events already. He cashed at the Borgata Poker Open, then made the televised final table at the L.A. Poker Classic. Le finished fourth for almost $412,000.
