Adam Gerber is an amateur poker player from Philadelphia who first got noticed by the poker community when he finished second in a $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold?em preliminary event at the 2007 Borgata Poker Open. He took home almost $249,000.
Then, about a month later, he made a huge score by winning the 2007 United States Poker Championship at the Taj Mahal, which added more than $606,000 to his lifetime tournament winnings.
Before getting into poker, Gerber spent most of his time playing golf and even tried out for the U.S. Open a couple of times. He says that tournament poker is now his obsession, and he doesn?t play in cash games or on the Internet.
