Poker has seen numerous weight and body fat prop bets through the years, and now Doug Polk has thrown his hat in the ring… again.

The YouTuber, poker pro, and owner of the Lodge card club in Texas announced a $200,000 wager with businessman and poker player Bill Perkins on Wednesday.

Polk is beginning the challenge at 22% body fat and will need to get that down to 11% by Oct. 6 to collect a six-figure score. Weight loss drugs like Ozempic aren’t allowed as part of the bet, Polk noted when asked by a Twitter follower.

Perkins Loves Making Body Fat Bets

The wager comes after Polk lost a similar bet with Perkins in 2023 that gave him a year to accomplish the feat. He began with 28% body fat and had to get down to 13.85%. He came up just short at 15.1%.

Now much leaner, Polk will still have his work cut out for him to lose 50% of his body fat in just six months. He seems to have a renewed mindset on grabbing the cash this time around.

“I fucked myself last time by starting too slow,” he told PokerNews.

Polk shared some photos of himself on Twitter and plans on consuming 1800 calories a day and hitting the weight room five times a week. In 2024, Shaun Deeb bet Perkins $100,000 at odds of 10 to 1 that he could drop his body fat from 40% to 17% in 14 months. They eventually agreed to settle the bet for an $800,000 buyout.

“There was never a minute I considered quitting,” Deeb noted on Twitter. “I knew how much time I put in. I wasn’t ever going to let that go to waste. I’ve always been a volume/long term thinker of EV (expected value). This bet was just perfect for my grinding mindset.”

Poker World Weighs In

Reaction was mixed on whether Polk could accomplish the feat in such a short amount of time. World Poker Tour commentator and two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Tony Dunst said he’d put some money on Polk.

“Having six months to go from 22% to 11% is difficult but quite realistic,” he posted. “I’d bet on you to get there.”

Others believe there is just too short a time frame to achieve the goal.

“The difference in 15% and 11% is absolutely astronomical,” one Twitter user commented.

Poker pro Yuval Bronshtein wondered how he could get in on some of the action and why Polk would even bother with such wagers.

“How do I qualify to get in shape for $200K or is it only for people like you who automatically bring a ton of publicity to the bet?” he posted.
