Poker is just bigger in Texas. The swings are massive and can go in both directions.

Fortunately for Ethan “Rampage” Yau, he was on the right side of the Lone Star State variance as he found himself taking down an enormous six-figure pot.

The vlogger and poker pro has documented his horrendous downswing, topped off by a brutal $200,000 cooler against Mariano Grandoli. Despite the losses, he was still mixing it up at the Lodge Card Club’s live stream, a club he now co-owns.

The stakes were $100-$200 with a $400 straddle and featured Dan “Jungleman” Cates and Doug Polk. It was one of the splashiest cash games on the internet, thus generating a massive pot in the blink of an eye.

The hand started with Vinny Lingham, who raised to a whopping $3,500 with AHeart Suit4Diamond Suit. Then, Bill Perkins snap-shoved for just shy of $200,000 with ASpade SuitKClub Suit. The massive three-bet shove drew a few laughs from the rest of the table.

Rampage’s smile would turn into an awkward one when he looked down at JSpade SuitJDiamond Suit in the straddle. With $171,000 behind, he began to shuffle his chips and started talking.

“I don’t have aces but I guess I’m going to see five cards” he said before calling.

Vinny couldn’t have folded fast enough. Little did Yau know that, with Vinny’s ace removed from the deck, that he was a 57% favorite, according to the Card Player Poker Odds calculator.

After agreeing to run it twice, Rampage enjoyed one of the best possible flops as it came down JHeart SuitKSpade Suit7Club Suit, giving him a set while also burning one of Perkins’ kings. After a long stretch of bad beats, the 10Club Suit was an uncomfortable sight as it gave Perkins four outs to a straight. However, Rampage got over the line as the 7Diamond Suit hit the river to guarantee him half the pot.

With at least a chop secured, Rampage enjoyed the super-dry 10Diamond Suit8Spade Suit4Club Suit second flop, which left Perkins with just a 24% chance of getting any of his money back. Again, the turn provided a little bit of sweat as the QDiamond Suit appeared, giving Perkins one additional out in the form of the case jack.

With 85% equity, Rampage scooped the $346,000 pot when the 5Club Suit came down on the river. He would end up finishing the night as the game’s biggest winner, raking in $233,700 while Perkins finished down $64,200. Cates finished down $176,500, only outdone by Hook’s $210,000 loss.
