After acquiring the World Series of Poker last year, Poker parent company NSUS Group continued expanding its footprint in the live poker arena on Wednesday. The company announced an investment in High Stakes Poker Productions, the company behind the Hustler Casino Live poker show.
NSUS acquired the equity held by former co-owner Nick Vertucci, who was removed from daily operations in October after sexual harassment allegations. Ryan Feldman, co-owner of High Stakes Poker Productions, will continue overseeing production of the show.
“This partnership with NSUS marks an exciting new chapter for High Stakes Poker Productions,” Feldman said. “With the support of a strong, forward-thinking partner, we are positioned to grow Hustler Casino Live even further and continue to offer fans the best live-stream poker content in the world. I am proud to lead this company into the future. The sky is the limit.”
Focused On Growth
Hustler Casino Live regularly features big cash games and has become one of the most popular streams with 375,000 subscribers on YouTube. In announcing the deal, NSUS said the company plans to “refocus on growth and innovation within the live-stream poker space.”
Could that include synergy with the online poker product and WSOP? That remains to be seen, but the growth plans apparently include seeing GGPoker ambassador and seven-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu.
“You rarely see me playing high-stakes poker on streams anymore, but this is going to get me out of retirement and returning to the felt, playing on the most epic cash game stream poker has ever seen,” Negreanu said. “I’m ready to battle!”
The price of the investment wasn’t disclosed, but Feldman was pleased to see the deal come together.
The game regularly features massive pots mixed with some wild play. That recently included poker pros and YouTube vloggers Mariano Grandoli and Ethan “Rampage” Yau battling. Grandoli started the hand playing blind and eventually scooped a pot of more than $190,000.
The stream has also hosted numerous top athletes such as Jimmy Butler, Ryan Garcia, and Neymar, as well as online gamers and influencers like Mr. Beast, Ninja, and Alexandra Botez. There have also been several pots that have exceeded seven-figures, including a record $3.1 million pot scooped by Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan in May of 2023.
