Road Trip Involved At Least One Bet At Each Stop

Many gamblers love hitting a few casinos over a few nights in Las Vegas. But a popular anonymous Arizona social media personality ramped that poker itinerary up even more recently.

“Clue Heywood” visited 26 casinos across the state in 48 hours in late February, documenting the entire journey on Twitter. The plan called for traveling 1,490 miles and he would be undertaking the plan with a friend for the ultimate road trip “for no reason other than it’s a fun and stupid challenge.”

“To our knowledge this has never been attempted. I feel like an astronaut,” he added.

Hitting The Road

Heywood regularly visits dive bars and eateries in the state, sharing his experiences and making some recommendations to followers. The casino trip was something different taking Heywood to all corners of the state.

Needless to say, with only two days for the casino quest, that didn’t leave much time for betting at each stop – and obviously no time for a poker tournament or extended cash game. However, he documented all the stops with photo and a few tidbits about each.

The first stop brought the pair to the Bluewater in Parker, located on the western border with California. He noted that the property was playing Blues Traveler and that it was going to “be a good day despite the late start.”

Amazingly, Heywood even worked in a few visits to some other dive bars along the way.

“Had to take a beer break at the Ranch House Saloon in Snowflake, Arizona,” he Tweeted. “It’s Saturday night after all. Dive bar in a Mormon town. A rarity. Okay, back on the road to Pinetop and the beautiful Hon-Dah Casino.”

That property also brought an interesting experience. The social media personality quickly found that the casino had some friendly rules of decorum.

“I don’t know if it’s this place or I’m just punchy after this journey but it was WEIRD in there. Plus if you cuss they refuse to deal the cards until you apologize. I regret nothing.”

Reaching The Finish Line

In the end, Heywood’s adventure took him 1,637 miles over 47.5 hours and he brought followers a look at some of the state’s more unique locations and gambling houses.

By the end, he had no interest in setting foot into a casino any time soon. With just a few properties remaining, he reflected on the journey using his usual sense of humor.

“We are committed to finishing this quest on time and under budget, I’m a little grumpy because we haven’t eaten much, I’m sick of noise and lights, and I hate people, but otherwise it’s been great.”

A similar challenge was undertaken by gaming analyst and poker author Jeff Hwang, who visited every casino in Las Vegas as they reopened following the COVID-19 pandemic. He then decided to keep going, driving 2,000 miles to visit all of the casinos in the state of Nevada.
