Pennsylvania Online Casinos Win $118M In March

Total State Gambling Market In March Was $462.7M

Another record for the Keystone State.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Monday that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gambling along with fantasy contests during March 2022 was the highest revenue achieved by the state in a single month.

Gamblers spent or lost a total of $462.7 million. The previous high revenue month occurred in November 2021 at $432.4 million.

Last month’s total was up nearly 15% year-over-year from $403.1 million in March 2021.

The record was driven by all-time highs in two gaming sectors. Table games at the brick-and-mortar casinos combined to generated more than $90 million, a new record. Online casino gambling generated more than $118 million, also a new record.

Slot machines at retail casinos had a great month, though not an all-time high. They were the largest category of gambling, with a little less than half of total win.

March’s gross revenue from slot machines was $214,721,028, a 7.74% increase in revenue when compared to the $199,290,530 generated in March 2021. The number of slot machines in operation in March 2022 was 26,107 compared to 19,727 at the casinos in March 2021.

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board include slot machines, table games, internet gaming, sports wagering, fantasy contests and VGTs.
